This simple recipe for HERSHEY Decadent Double Chocolate Chip Cookies stars HERSHEY'S SPECIAL DARK Chocolate Chips and HERSHEY'S Milk Chocolate Chips for double the richness. Sprinkle in walnuts, pecans or macadamia nuts for added crunch.

  • 9 oz.
    unsalted butter, softened
  • 7 oz.
    butter flavored shortening
  • 12 oz.
    light brown sugar
  • 8 oz.
    granulated sugar
  • 5-1⁄2 oz. (3 large)
  • 1⁄2 oz.
    vanilla extract
  • 1 lb. 3 oz.
    all-purpose flour
  • 1-1⁄2 tsp.
    baking soda
  • 1-1⁄2 tsp.
  • 2 lbs. 4 oz.
    HERSHEY'S SPECIAL DARK Chocolate Chips (Item# 14122)
  • 1 lb. 2 oz.
    HERSHEY'S Milk Chocolate Chips (Item# 61425)
  • 12 oz.
    chopped walnuts, pecans or macadamia nuts (optional)



Heat convection oven to 300°F (standard oven: 350°F). Lightly spray sheet pans with vegetable cooking spray. Place parchment paper on prepared sheet pans.


Mix butter, shortening, brown sugar and granulated sugar in 20 qt. bowl of mixer fitted with paddle attachment until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing until fully incorporated. Blend together flour, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Gradually add to butter mixture, mixing until well blended. Stir in HERSHEY'S SPECIAL DARK Chocolate Chips, HERSHEY'S Milk Chocolate Chips and walnuts, if desired. Using #24 scoop (2 oz.), drop dough onto prepared sheet pans.


Bake 11 to 13 minutes* or until lightly browned. Cool slightly; remove from sheet pans to wire rack. Cool completely.


Step 3: If using convection oven, rotate sheet pans one-half turn (180°) after 5 minutes of baking.
