    vegetable oil
  • 2 lbs.
    finely chopped onion
  • 24 fl. oz.
  • 8 fl. oz.
  • 6 fl. oz.
    worcestershire sauce
  • 6 oz.
    light brown sugar
  • 2 oz.
    tomato paste
  • 2 fl. oz.
    white vinegar
  • 1 tsp.
    dry mustard
  • 1⁄4 tsp.
    hot pepper sauce
  • 1-1⁄2 oz. (6 Tbsp.)
    HERSHEY'S Cocoa, Natural (Item# 63505)
  • 1 fl. oz.
    additional vegetable oil

    large shrimp, shelled, deveined

    (6 to 8-inch) skewers*



Heat 4 fl. oz. vegetable oil in large heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat. Add onion; cook until tender. Stir in ketchup, water, worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, tomato paste, vinegar, mustard and hot pepper sauce. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer until thickened, approximately 20 minutes.


Combine HERSHEY'S Cocoa with additional 1 fl. oz. vegetable oil to form a smooth paste; stir into sauce. Remove from heat. Dip each shrimp into sauce; let stand 20 minutes to marinate.


Heat broiler; thread 4 shrimp on each skewer. Place shrimp on broiler tray. Broil 4 inches from heat until shrimp are done, approximately 4 minutes each side. Serve with remaining sauce.


Step 3: If using bamboo skewers, make sure to soak them in warm water for at least 15 minutes before adding ingredients.
